How to search for materials

When looking for libraries related to a specific theme:

It may be helpful to browse (bookshelf search) for the open stack room on the second floor of general library or the library counter of each campus or to make "keyword" and/or "classification" search by using the "Kansai University Library searching system (KOALA)".

Arrangement of books
Books at the library are arranged from left to right and top to bottom according to their Call Numbers. The Call Number is like an address for the book. If you know the Call Number of the book you want, please look for the book by going to the corresponding book shelf.

When checking if the necessary material is kept in Kansai University:

Depending on the material, the user should make appropriate use of "KOALA" or "Booklet Catalogue."

  1. KOALA

KOALA is a retrieval system to search by computer for materials kept by Kansai University. Users can learn about the information on the books and journals they need as to:

    1. whether they are kept by Kansai University,
    2. how many of them are there in which location of Kansai University, and
    3. whether it is currently being borrowed.

Users can search for them from outside the library via Internet.

  2. Booklet Catalogues

A book catalogue in the form of a book is called "Booklet Catalogue." For instance, there are the Early Modern Documents Catalogue and a catalogue for special collections.
