Borrowing and returning

 

Borrowing procedure

●The 2nd floor Open-stack room

Bring the books you want to borrow to the open-stack counter on the second floor with your ID card. Submitting an application form or other document is not necessary.

*Books attached with a label saying "KR" or "禁帯出" cannot be checked out. These books are for in-library use only.

●The 1st floor Reference room

Materials located in this room are for in-library use only. They cannot be checked out.

●Stack rooms in the first and second basements

The stack rooms are close-shelf style,and cannot be accessed freely. To request materials in the stack room, fill out an "Application Card for Reading and Borrowing "Japanese Only and submit it to the main counter(1F). A librarian will bring them out immediately.

Faculty members, graduate students, and the third- and forth-year students under guidance are allowed to enter these stack rooms.

●Second stack room

Foreign magazines and other materials published before 1980 are kept in this room. Entering this room is restricted. If you want to read or borrow materials kept in this room, submit an "Application Card for Reading and Borrowing "Japanese Only to the main counter on the first floor. Ordered materials will not be handed over immediately, but will be prepared at the main counter in the following manner.

Up to 10 volumes of open stack items of the General Library, and books for learning of the Muse Campus Library and the Sakai Campus can be borrowed for two weeks. Up to 10 volumes of books for learning of the Takatsuki Campus Library can be borrowed for one month.

  • Books that you have checked out are counted as your borrowing books regardless of the location of the books.
  • Loan period is shortened during examination periods. During the library's closing period, loan period is extended to the end of the closing period. The information on the change in length of loan period will be posted on the "What's news" in the library's website as well as bulletin boards in libraries on each campus.
  • If there is a many request for a book at the same time, the loan period of the book can be shortened even if it is not during an examination period.
  • You can check the loan status of items that you are borrowing via the library's online service.

Returning 

Please return books within the due date to the counter where you checked out the books. If you need to return overdue books or books that you damaged, report it to the staff at the counter.

Renewing

Books that you have currently on loan can be renewed just one time by applying before the loan period ends. Bring the book with your ID card to the counter where you checked it out. However, your loan period cannot be renewed in the following cases.

  • Someone has already requested the book.
  • Your due date has expired.
  • You have other overdue books.
  • During an examination period

You can renew your loan period via the library's online service.

Reservation and Delivery request

A book that is out on loan can be reserved. Identify the material ID using the search system (KOALA), and make a reservation at the counter of each library. Immediately after the book is returned, the information will be posted on bulletin boards. The book will be laid away for one week (three days during examination period) at the counter.

Books can be ordered from the library of other campus. Fill out an "Application Card for Reading and Borrowing "Japanese Only and submit it to the counter of each library.

You can check your reservation and ordering statuses and the availability of books via the online service.

Loan suspension

If you have a one-day or more overdue book, you cannot borrow another book, renew the loan period of books that you are currently borrowing, or make reservations or delivery request. Make sure to return books before the due date.

Loss

If you soiled, damaged or lost a library's book, report promptly to the counter where you checked out the book. In case of damaging or losing library's books, compensation with the identical item or payment of expenses to procure the same book is required in principle.
